In the celebrated photographic series Secret City, Jason Langer invites the viewer on a voyeuristic stroll through foggy and fashionable streetscapes, stopping to find muse in the romantic vulnerability glimpsed behind closed doors. Using the vocabulary of film-noir, Langer’s images collectively juxtapose the harsher edges of urban anonymity and the intimacy of human sexuality that lives figuratively between light and shadow. Former apprentice to his mentor Michael Kenna, Langer attended the University of Oregon and exhibits his photographs internationally.
