Camille Solyagua was born in Denver, Colorado. She attended the Academy of Art College in San Francisco from 1989-1990. Prior to art school, Solyagua obtained a B.A. in Spanish Literature from UCSD in 1984 and a M.A. in Spanish Literature from Middlebury College in 1985. Solyagua has been exhibiting her photographs since 1989, and is currently in the collections of the Los Angeles County Museum, the Santa Barbara Museum of Art and the Museum of Fine Arts in Houston, Texas. Solyagua moved to Portland, Oregon in 2004. Her work has been featured in exhibitions all over the United States and abroad, most recently in Picturing Eden, a traveling show (with accompanying book) initiating at the George Eastman House in Rochester, NY. Solyagua has had five monographs published over the past twelve years, all by Nazraeli Press, a Portland-based publisher of books on the fine and applied arts.
